It allows our customers to leverage the best open source observability software – including Prometheus, Mimir, Loki, Tempo, and Pyroscope – without the overhead of installing, maintaining and scaling their own observability stack.The Databases department owns and operates the telemetry databases that are Mimir for metrics, Loki for logs, Tempo for traces, and Pyroscope for profiles. We offer our databases as a Cloud service supporting Grafana Cloud, and additionally as on-premise solutions with Grafana Enterprise Metrics, Grafana Enterprise Logs, and Grafana Enterprise Traces.Adaptive Telemetry GroupThe Adaptive Telemetry group, part of the Databases department, has the mission of ensuring that all telemetry stored in our databases is worthy of attention. Under that mission, the group is responsible for the development of Adaptive Metrics, Adaptive Logs, Adaptive Traces and Adaptive Profiles.Our Adaptive Telemetry solutions give users the ability to control and optimize their telemetry data. These solutions ensure that data storage is optimized based on individual usage patterns, so only the most valuable data is retained.Each Adaptive Telemetry solution comes with a Grafana plugin that allows for manual adjustments to the solution’s behavior or the acceptance of system-generated recommendations. Our Grafana plugins are Typescript applications developed with React and tested with Jest and Playwright.As a Staff Frontend Engineer, you’ll contribute across multiple work streams and play a key role in shaping both the product and the team’s technical direction. You’ll collaborate closely with other frontend and backend engineers, providing guidance and technical leadership on larger projects, and helping to foster a positive, collaborative team culture. Good communication skills are a must.• Leadership: You have experience guiding and supporting other engineers, leading initiatives or small teams, and driving projects to successful outcomes through collaboration.• Solid experience working with web applications ideally developed with React.• Solid experience unit and end to end testing your code ideally with Jest and Playwright.• Experience writing clean, robust, and performant software that is easily maintained by others.Bonus Points For:• Experience working with TanStack and Playwright.• Experience developing Grafana plugins.• Experience working with some traditionally backend programming languages like Go.• Been a user of Grafana and/or other observability related applications at a previous employer or just using these tools on hobby/homelab projects.Compensation & Rewards:In the United States, the Base compensation range for this role is USD 168,256 - USD 201,907. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed in the interview process.
