DescriptionPerform Special Collections and Archives duties, including: reference assistance, assisting patrons in the Reading Room, processing of collections, and digitization project assistance.Examples of Duties• Provide reference and consultation related to special collections and archives holdings to faculty, staff, and the public.• Staff the Reading Room and assist patrons with research requests in person, over the phone, and by email.• Assist with processing of archival collections and creation of finding aids.• Assist with collection maintenance.• Assist Archivists with ongoing projects including but not limited to programming, digitization, developing exhibits, creating inventories, remediating finding aids/reparative descriptive, collection maintenance, and other duties as required.• Other duties as assignedTypical Qualifications1. Minimum Bachelor's degree.2.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills, with clear evidence of ability to interact effectively and cooperatively with colleagues and patrons.3.Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a team environment.4.Demonstrated project management skills.5.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.6.Ability to interact effectively with a diverse population of faculty, students, and staff.Additional Desirable Qualifications• One year of library or archival experience.• Experience working in an academic library.• Graduate level coursework in Archival Studies.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to complete job duties with or without reasonable accommodations.Ability to pack and lift up to 50 pound boxes during job-related activities.
