Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Sr. Payroll Team Lead for our PEO, to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, and managing various payroll-related functions. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of payroll management, tax regulations, and benefits administration.ResponsibilitiesThe Sr. Payroll Team Lead is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the PEO payroll process, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of client invoices and employee payments. This role will drive process improvements, support team development, and effectively lead the payroll team to maintain accuracy, minimize errors, and enhance client satisfaction. The role is fully remote with a requirement to travel to NJ once a year to attend an annual meeting.Manage Payroll Team• Lead and support team• Hold regular team meetings• Serve as the point of escalation for client issues• Analyze client distribution among processors to optimize workload capacity• Train new hires in payroll processing, including PrismHR and department policies and procedures• Staff developmentClient Satisfaction• Check in with clients on a scheduled basis to ensure high levels of client satisfaction• Follow up with the VP of PEO and assess client risk• Monitor client and employee inquiries through the payroll mailbox to ensure prompt and accurate team response• Annual travel required for client meetings in Washington, DC, or other locations as needed• Join implementation calls when neededPayroll Processing & Quality Assurance• Accurately process client payrolls each pay period• Conduct a cross-check audit of payrolls on a specified schedule to look for accuracy, consistent procedures, and errors• Develop payroll processing checklists• Hold quarterly quality assurance meetings with the payroll team to review processes, procedures, and ways to enhance efficiency. Report on findings to the VP of PEO Services• Ensure compliance with payroll laws, regulations, and client policies by attending webinars, training, or conferences• Streamline and automate processes to maximize use of the payroll system• Hold regular meetings with NexFirm accounting to clarify the classification of payroll line items on payroll invoices. Connect with payroll administrators to obtain necessary information.• Coordinate with payroll processors to verify client setup, including benefit setup and collections, escrow if applicable, TimeCo setup (including PTO, vacation, sick days, and overtime), expense reimbursement, and any other applicable collections• Coordinate with Payroll Tax to confirm tax setups are correct before the first payroll run for a new client or a new client location• Review leaves of absence and ensure employees are correctly paid• Act as the escalation point when payroll processors have processing issues• Facilitate payroll team training with HRIS trainers, as needed• Work on client user setups with other designated individuals (user security)• Travel to attend the annual HRIS conferenceMiscellaneous• Other projects assignedRequirements• Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting• Prism HR experience (2 + years)• Payroll processing experience (7+ years)• Management experience (3+ years)• Strong communication skills• Analytical and strong technical skills• Experience working with clients• Ability to work independently• Experience streamlining/automating process• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve payroll issues• Excel experience (7+ years)Compensation• $80-90K based on credentials/experience• PTO, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401kJob Type: Full-timePay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per yearBenefits:• 401(k)• Dental insurance• Health insurance• Health savings account• Life insurance• Paid time off• Vision insurancePeople with a criminal record are encouraged to applyWork Location: Remote
