The Principal Optical Engineer will drive the design and development of optics and transceivers solutions, leading multiple engineers and collaborating across teams to resolve complex network design issues.Responsibilities• Lead the standardization of our rack SKUs and the buildout of a standardized cabling solution by defining high-level objectives and delivery procedures.• Organizes project technical landmarks & supporting tasks.• Work as project technical lead, coordinating effort of several engineers across multiple teams in the organization.• Advises project/program manager and coordinates with immediate and skip-level leadership.• Collaborates across teams within same org (same VP) and outside of org.• Serve as technical SME in multi-functional activities.• Has technical responsibility for complex project(s), including project requirements, specifications (where applicable), and documentation.• Responsible for decomposing high-level architectures into detailed designs.• Ability to lead multiple engineers in developing network solutions consisting of multiple modules with complex interactions; Work with supporting service teams to ensure solutions are properly supported by monitoring and automation systems.• Serves as specialized escalation for all physical design and cabling issues within networking.• Serves as a principal point of contact for driving systematic resolution of complex network design issues.• Understand current and future cabling and optical standards, cable plant design, rack structural calculations and rack integration best practices.• Provides a broad set of guidance to technical and senior technical members of staff.• Interprets guidance from leaders (technical and managers) and provides focused development to junior members.• Collaborates with vendor engineering and account managers to address current business or operational issues.• Participates in the development of RFQ/RFPs.• May lead the adoption of new vendor hardware.• Active communication with product teams.• Responsible to drive technology to meet product and service requirements.• Participate in coordinated communication with product teams, networking leadership, and PMO to help assess gaps, solutions and needs.Skills• 10+ years network infrastructure engineering in optics and optical• Experience with datacenter engineering cabling• Product Lifecycle management• Testing and Qualification background• Python coding and scripting• Masters in Electrical Engineering• Experience with datacenter engineering cabling• Product Lifecycle management a huge plus• Testing and Qualification background also a plus• Python coding and scripting is a also a big plusEducation Requirements• Bachelors in Electrical EngineeringBenefits• Medical, dental, and vision insurance, including expert medical opinion• Short term disability and long term disability• Life insurance and AD&D• Supplemental life insurance (Employee/Spouse/Child)• Health care and dependent care Flexible Spending Accounts• Pre-tax commuter and parking benefits• 401(k) Savings and Investment Plan with company match• Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position.
