As a Medical Records Technician, you will work remotely in your home office and you will provide cross-departmental support to medical case managers as well as medical review physicians and their teams. You may be responsible for collecting case reports and letters and organizing them in a proprietary electronic case management system. You may be tasked with updating case notes, all while utilizing and refining your keen organizational skills. This is a tremendous opportunity to contribute and gain lifelong abilities. Responsibilities Medical Records Technicians may provide any combination of the following support functions on a daily basis: * Communicate with medical providers’ offices via fax, mail, and phone to follow up on appointment attendance. * Request/obtain records in a HIPPA-compliant fashion * Communicate with various medical department colleagues advising of receipt of records * Identification of criteria that may require referral directly to case management * Print, organize, scan, and attach medical files in an electronic case management system * Review, organize, and attach incoming e-faxes * Update clinical fields for description of documents * Other identified tasks associated with Medical Records Systems Medical Records Technician Qualifications * GED or High School diploma * 2+ years experience in the healthcare industry, medical records, or healthcare-related customer service/call center field * U.S. Citizenship * The ability to pass a preliminary credit and background check * The ability to obtain and maintain a clearance * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Ability to identify medical terminology and documents * Ability to work independently, multitask, and adjust priorities * Ability to work well in a team environment, with a moderate degree of supervision, to handle a heavy workload, to prioritize work for self, and to meet assigned deadlines.
