With a competitive salary range of $23.00 - $35.57 per hour, you will be rewarded for your hard work and dedication.Primary AccountabilitiesAs a Legal Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include:• Conducting research and preparing background information to support our legal team• Receiving and responding to inquiries, relaying messages, and managing calendars for court appearances, appointments, and meetings• Scheduling and coordinating tasks for file handlers and monitoring progress to ensure timely completion• Handling and distributing electronic mail, screening and responding to incoming mail, and generating legal and claims correspondence• Ensuring delivery of documents to courts, opposing counsel, and others, and scheduling and coordinating with opposing counsel, witnesses, experts, and others for investigations, discovery, depositions, and trials• Performing data entry and initial setup of new matters, handling tasks related to payments and closing files, and participating in projects and committees• Supporting file handlers with electronic legal databases and claim management systems, assisting with training unit employees, and administering divisional programs and conducting special projects• Coordinating claim information collection for other divisions, maintaining and updating procedural documents and divisional contact information, and organizing and performing claim administrative workflow and processing tasksRequirements and QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:• Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service• Demonstrated experience performing legal support duties, including interacting with members of the judiciary, opposing and co-counsel, clients, and expert and lay witnesses• Demonstrated experience working with confidential documents and situations• Demonstrated experience with various PC software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)• Demonstrated experience writing and proofreading legal documents for proper grammar and spelling• Solid knowledge and understanding of legal procedures, legal terminology, and the judicial system• Solid knowledge and understanding of legal ethics rules and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentialityPreferred QualificationsIn addition to the essential qualifications, we are looking for candidates with the following preferred qualifications:• Experience with SharePoint, Guidewire/Claims Center, Legal eXchange, or Legal Files• Previous experience working in a remote or home-based environment• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and external partnersCareer Growth and DevelopmentAt American Family Insurance, we are committed to providing our employees with opportunities for career growth and development.
