You will work closely with the program supervisor to develop and implement culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate programs that promote social-emotional learning, teamwork, and skill-building. This is a part-time, on-site position that requires flexibility and adaptability, with a focus on creating a safe, caring, and inclusive environment for all participants.Responsibilities* Plan and implement culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum provided by the Y* Supervise a group of children to ensure their health and safety and to provide for a positive experience for each child* May provide guidance to staff/volunteers overseeing the activities of groups of children* Professionally communicate day-to-day, confidential, and evaluative information with parents/guardians* Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures* Assist in maintaining a developmentally appropriate site, including appearance, décor, and cleanliness* May prepare and serve snacks* Cleans snack area* Assists at check-in or out for parents* Assumes responsibility for program operation when DCYF designated and qualified staff is not on premises* Provides onsite support for the school-based Play Everyday Program at the school* Attends staff meetings and trainings as required* Other duties as assignedRequirements* 18 years of age or older* 2 or more years of experience with children, including camps, child care, tutoring, and nannying* Ability to model and demonstrate Y values: caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty* Experience planning and implementing group activities* Have completed 12 credits of 100-level or above college-level coursework and have a GED or high school diploma* Transcripts will be required during the offer stage to ensure applicants meet state licensing requirements pre-hire* Completion of minimum STARS required training* Certification in CPR/First aid* TB test by Mantoux method* Food worker card* Cleared Portable Background Check in the statewide registry MERITPreferred Qualifications* 21 years of age or older* Leadership or supervisory experience (1-2 years)* Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.)* Ability to speak any language in addition to English* Other applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position will be consideredWhat We Offer* Competitive salary: $22 per hour* Comprehensive benefits package* Individual membership to the YMCA of Greater Seattle* Free access to mental health resources* Rapidly accruing paid time off (PTO) available immediately upon hire* Anticipated start date: August 26th* In-person or online training may be required prior to start dateWork Environment and CultureAs a member of our team, you will be part of a dynamic and inclusive work environment that values diversity, equity, and social justice.
