As an IT Infrastructure Specialist at American Airlines, you will play a critical role in supporting the airline's operations and contributing to its success.Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our team at American Airlines. As an IT Infrastructure Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the airline's IT infrastructure, including traditional and cloud-based systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth operation of our systems, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance our infrastructure. This is a remote job opportunity, and you will be expected to work from home, with occasional travel to our offices or data centers as required.Key Responsibilities• Manage and maintain American Airlines' IT infrastructure, including traditional and cloud-based systems• Provide expertise in server load balancing, WAS clustering, and other application scaling concepts• Research and resolve middleware issues across development, testing, and production environments• Proactively monitor data center and remote server farm activities, including UPSs, central air, power, office security systems, and all data center processes and procedures• Foster an environment of sharing and collaboration between teams• Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging trends, and propose improvements or changes to our infrastructure• Maintain communication and response processes by responding to customers on system issues, support, and system status, and escalating and reporting on any delayed or critical issues• Administer and maintain Windows Active Directory, including DNS and Group Policies• Provide guidance to junior technicians and assist when and where necessary• Travel as required, with a rotational schedule for on-call supportEssential QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will need to have:• A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience/training• At least 2 years of experience as a network or system architect or administrator• Strong knowledge of IT business operations, system requirements, and processes• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and implement solutions• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teamsPreferred QualificationsWhile not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:• 2+ years of experience as a network or system architect or administrator• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field• Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or IBM Cloud• Experience with DevOps tools, such as CI/CD, GitHub, Artifactory, or Jenkins• Experience with containerization, such as Docker, Kubernetes, or Cloud Foundry• Experience with server and application monitoring, such as Dynatrace, LogDNA, or SysDigSkills and CompetenciesTo be successful in this role, you will need to have the following skills and competencies:• Strong technical skills, with the ability to design and implement complex systems• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and implement solutions• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines• Ability to adapt to changing requirements and priorities• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to ensure high-quality resultsCareer Growth Opportunities and Learning BenefitsAt American Airlines, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
