Your primary focus will be on ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our systems, as well as providing technical support and guidance to our teams. Some of your key responsibilities will include:• Designing and implementing conventional and cloud-based infrastructure solutions based on plans from infrastructure architects• Providing in-depth knowledge of concepts related to server load balancing, WAS clustering, and other application scaling ideas• Investigating and resolving middleware issues across development, testing, and production environments• Proactively monitoring local and remote data center operations and equipment, including UPSs, air conditioning, power, office security systems, and all data center processes and procedures• Fostering a culture of sharing and collaboration among team members• Staying up-to-date with systems technology best practices and evolving technologies to maintain area expertise and suggest improvements or changes• Supporting communication and response processes by responding to clients on system issues, maintenance, and system status, and advising and escalating on any long-term or significant issues• Managing and maintaining Windows Active Directory, including DNS and Group Policies• Providing guidance to lower-level professionals and assisting when and where necessary• Participating in rotational on-call schedule for off-hours supportEssential Qualifications and SkillsTo be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications and skills:• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training• At least 3 years of experience as an organization or infrastructure engineer or administrator• Advanced ability to think critically for current and future business conditions, including future technology and business design changes to create flexible, adaptable solutions• In-depth knowledge of IT business operations, systems requirements, and processes• Proven expertise in the following areas:• Server Administration - Linux (RHEL/CentOS 7/8) and Windows (2012/2016)• Infrastructure as Code - Terraform, Python, Slam, and PowerShell• Cloud Technologies - Design, development, and delivery of cloud-native applications (Microsoft Azure, AWS, IBM Cloud)• DevOps - CI/CD, GitHub, Artifactory, or Jenkins• Containerization - Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry• Server and Application Monitoring - Dynatrace, LogDNA, and SysDig• Ability to analyze complex problems and implement solutions or workarounds• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with a strong desire to learn and expand depth of knowledge• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and leverage best practicesPreferred Qualifications and SkillsWhile not essential, the following qualifications and skills are preferred:• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training• More than 3 years of experience as an organization or infrastructure engineer or administrator• Experience with Integrated project management methodology, specifically within the infrastructure areaCareer Growth Opportunities and Learning BenefitsAt American Airlines, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
