As a Historical Park Interpreter, you will have the opportunity to craft interpretive programs, perform in specialized First-Person programs, and provide exemplary customer service. If you're a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for history and education, we encourage you to apply.Key Responsibilities• Lead school and public educational programs tied to State standards to increase awareness and understanding of Delaware's cultural resources.• Develop and maintain exhibits, educational and historical site material.• Provide general customer service and park information to visitors.• Plan, organize, and conduct interpretive walks, programs, and tours.• Perform custodial services in historic sites and offices.• Set-up, monitor, and provide support for park programs and special events.• Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate responsibility, dependability, and good communication skills.Essential QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:• At least six months of experience working with children and young adults, such as environmental educator/classroom assistant, academic/athletic tutoring, camp counselor, or youth volunteer.• Experience with care and handling of animals.• Knowledge of natural, cultural, historical resources, or parks and recreation.• Knowledge of public speaking or interpretation.• Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked, or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).Preferred QualificationsWhile not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:• Experience in a similar role or industry.• Knowledge of Delaware's history and cultural resources.• Experience with exhibit development and maintenance.• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.Skills and CompetenciesTo succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies:• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.• Knowledge of Delaware's history and cultural resources.• Ability to develop and deliver engaging educational programs.• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Career Growth Opportunities and Learning BenefitsAs a Historical Park Interpreter with Delaware State Parks, you will have opportunities to develop your skills and advance your career.
