Costco has been recognized by several publications, including Bloomberg and Forbes, for its value to employees and its positive work environment.Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our IT team, responsible for managing the Oracle Exadata/Exacc database platform, ensuring high data integrity, and supporting critical information systems. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and experience with Oracle databases and related technologies, as well as hands-on experience supporting cloud applications.Key Responsibilities:• Use and manage home/property information• Maintain detailed records of database design/architecture and configuration• Establish backup/restore and disaster recovery procedures• Establish database security procedures• Support user groups with incident and problem management tools• Determine the server hardware, software, and configuration required to run Oracle efficiently on the Exacc platform• Create new processes, leverage, and improve existing processes for database installation and configuration• Review performance analysis and recommend changes for database, server, storage, and application SQL tuning• Participate in backup audits, including recovery to ensure all data and information are preserved• Update backup and restore processes to take advantage of new systems and technologies• Support database issues, providing solutions and basic analysis• Create migration/upgrade strategy to new Oracle releases and development patches• Participate in negotiations with suppliers when there are issues of material information• Provide technical support (PME) to contact database administrators if necessary• Follow the basic application process using supporting documents• Learn about Oracle features and functionality and stay up to date• Stay up to date with industry trends and best practicesEssential Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field• Oracle Certified Database Specialist (or willingness to obtain)• Experience in the use and management of OLTP and ODS systems• Experience using large enterprise applications• Knowledge of all aspects of Oracle database technology, including HADR, CDB/PDB• Knowledge of tools/tools (e.g., Toad, Oracle OEM, UC4, Shell Scripting)• Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud solutions• Knowledge of Linux operating systems and networking principles• Good understanding of industry best practices related to Oracle databasesPreferred Qualifications:• Architectural knowledge of data protection, data compliance, and risk management• Proven experience in project management - working with several international teams• Experience in planning, designing, and developing information technology policies, procedures, and practices• Ability to propose solutions to resolve compliance issues• Ability to follow agreed standards and tools to achieve effective results• Collaborate to revise work with others as necessary• Understanding of CI/CD and DevOps• Experience in coaching and mentoring peersSkills and Competencies:• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills• Excellent oral and written communication skills• Proven ability to work independently or in a team• Happy to teach and train others• Ability to work seamlessly with employees at different levels within and outside of core competencies• Ability to communicate solutions/problems to audiences of different skill levels• Ability to prepare and present technical information• Ability to communicate professionally at staff level and in dealing with internal/external clients• Understand the importance of communication on risk assessment• Ability to support call-to-action roles 24/7Career Growth Opportunities and Learning BenefitsAt Costco Wholesale, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
