Within this dynamic context, the Community Services Department is seeking an experienced and visionary Child Development Center Manager to lead its child development programs.About the Community Services Department and the PositionThe Community Services Department is comprised of three divisions: Community Services Administration, Youth and Adult Services, and the Child Development Center. This department is dedicated to providing high-quality services to the community, with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Child Development Center Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the operational and fiscal efficiency of the center, while also driving program development and innovation in early childhood education. Under the direction of the Community Services Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of the Child Development Center, including staff supervision, program development, budget management, and community outreach.Key Responsibilities• Serve as a liaison between the City of Emeryville, parents, and other public and private agencies to foster collaborative relationships and promote the center's programs.• Develop and implement effective public relations and recruitment strategies to attract children and families to the program, ensuring compliance with state guidelines and procedures.• Oversee the development and administration of center admission processes, fee structures, and ensure compliance with general licensing requirements for child development centers.• Provide managerial oversight in assigning children to age-appropriate classrooms and programs, such as swimming, field trips, and meetings.• Counsel parents on health, education, and behavioral issues, making referrals to community services as needed.• Prepare and oversee the preparation of state fiscal reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.• Supervise, train, and evaluate staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.• Work closely with the department management team to develop and deliver comprehensive community services programs, ensuring coordination and transition between program areas.• Plan, develop, and monitor the center's budget, revenue collection, and tracking protocols in conjunction with the Community Services Director and Finance Department.• Ensure the center meets all California Department of Education requirements, maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.Ideal Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate for this position will be an experienced professional in child development, with a deep understanding of emergent curriculum and the tenets of child development. The successful candidate will possess excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and supervise staff, and build strong relationships with parents, community partners, and city officials.Essential Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in recreation, public administration, social services, education, or a related field.
