As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our certified staff members in delivering high-quality education to our Pre-K students.Job OverviewThe Busy Bee Teaching Assistant position is a unique opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic individual to make a positive impact on the lives of our students. As a key member of our educational team, you will be responsible for assisting our certified staff members in various capacities throughout the school day. Your primary focus will be on supporting students in developing their reading, language arts, mathematics, and computer skills, as well as helping them with special needs and disabilities.Key Responsibilities• Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs• Assist professional staff in the administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests, and assessments• Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs• Assist with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance• Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task• Assist students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, corridor, study hall, and other related non-instructional areas• Accompany students on field trips for the purpose of assisting with supervision• Construct, copy, and distribute educational materials as needed• Assist teachers with parent contact as requested to foster effective and participatory parent involvement in student education• Assist students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion, learning, achievement of individual plan objectives, ELL, etc.• Participate in the IEP process and serve as a resource for the student personnel evaluation team as needed• Assist students with disabilities with activities of daily living for the purpose of maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activitiesEssential QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, and perform arithmetic operations as needed to assist students• Ability to understand, apply, and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel)• Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees, and others• Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with special needs• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and others contacted in the course of work• Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required• Effective writing and verbal communication skillsPreferred QualificationsWhile not essential, the following preferred qualifications will be highly regarded:• 48 hours of college credit or pass ParaPro test• Highly Qualified applicant status• Previous experience working with Pre-K students or in a similar educational setting• Knowledge of special needs and disabilities, including strategies for supporting students with diverse learning needs• Experience with classroom behavioral management and conflict resolutionSkills and CompetenciesTo excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies:• Strong communication and interpersonal skills• Ability to work effectively in a team environment• Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing priorities and needs• Strong organizational and time management skills• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion• Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skillsCareer Growth Opportunities and Learning BenefitsAt the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation, we are committed to supporting the ongoing professional development and growth of our staff members.
