By engaging community volunteers and AmeriCorps service members, we support elementary-aged students on their path toward reading proficiency. We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate AmeriCorps Program Coordinator to join our team in the Bay Area, specifically in San Francisco and Oakland, CA. As the face of Reading Partners in elementary schools, you will be responsible for leading the coordination, operations, and relationship development of our one-on-one tutoring programs.Key ResponsibilitiesAs an AmeriCorps Program Coordinator, your primary duties will include:• Leading the full-time coordination and operations of Reading Partners' tutoring programs at a school partner, ensuring the program meets students' learning needs.• Coordinating the day-to-day operations and schedule of Reading Partners' tutoring programs, providing ongoing tutoring to students, and managing student and tutor data records to track student progress.• Providing direct technical support to students and volunteers when using Reading Partners' online tutoring program, and forging and maintaining positive relationships with students, families, tutors, and school staff to create a welcoming tutoring environment.• Leading family, student, and volunteer engagement support within your reading center, motivating students in their learning journeys, and managing student behavior.• Guiding, coaching, and providing feedback and ongoing support to volunteer tutors, ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed to effectively support students.Essential QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you should:• Possess a high school diploma or GED, with a strong foundation in education, community development, or a related field.• Hold US Citizenship, Permanent Resident Status, or be a US National, with the ability to commit to a full term of service.• Have not completed more than three prior AmeriCorps or VISTA service terms, with a strong understanding of the AmeriCorps service commitment.• Pay strong attention to detail, manage competing priorities effectively, and be open to learning technology systems like Salesforce, Google Apps, and Zoom Conferencing.Preferred QualificationsWhile not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:• Experience as an AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, or other national service alum/alumna, with a deep understanding of community development and literacy education.• Background in volunteering with community-based or education programs, with a passion for empowering students and promoting social justice.• Familiarity with technology systems, data management, and program coordination, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Skills and CompetenciesTo excel in this role, you should possess:• Strong leadership and program management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and priorities.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, families, tutors, and school staff.• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage data and track student progress effectively.• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong commitment to social justice and education.Career Growth Opportunities and Learning BenefitsAt Reading Partners, we are committed to your growth and development.
