Bioinformatics/AI ScientistPosition OverviewWe are seeking a talented Bioinformatics/AI Scientist to join our dynamic computational biology team. This is a 1-year contract position with potential for extension, offering the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art machine learning applications in cancer research. The successful candidate will play a key role in benchmarking and optimizing AI/ML models using comprehensive preclinical and clinical datasets.• Contract Duration: 1 year with possibility for extension• Work Arrangement: Remote-friendly position with preference for Pacific Time Zone candidates. On-site option available in South San Francisco, CA• Schedule: Monday-Friday, Pacific Standard Time hours• Compensation: $37-50/hour (DOE)Key Responsibilities• Develop and implement scalable Python code to benchmark performance of cutting-edge ML models on defined preclinical and clinical research tasks.• Generate comprehensive reports analyzing the performance of various ML methodologies and present findings to cross-functional teams.• Propose innovative approaches for benchmarking and enhancing predictive model capabilities.• Create detailed documentation of code, analytical processes, and research findings, including standardization of computational workflows.• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate computational insights into actionable research directions.Required Qualifications• PhD in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or related quantitative field.• 6+ years of hands-on experience with large-scale bulk data analysis (RNA-seq, WES).• Demonstrated expertise working with multiomics datasets and high-dimensional biological data.• Proven experience with state-of-the-art machine learning models and frameworks.• Hands-on experience training and applying PyTorch-based transformer architectures.• Strong background in cancer biology and/or clinical omics data analysis.• Proficiency in Python programming, cloud-based engineering pipelines, shell scripting, Git version control, and high-performance computing environments.This job description is a complete list of all desired skills, but not all are required.
