To learn more about how The Center is serving the community during this time, please visit g.About the Opportunity:The incoming Chief Financial Officer (CFO) has the unique opportunity to join an emphatically mission-driven organization, and lead a seasoned team of dedicated finance professionals. As a trusted and critical leader at The Center, the CFO is responsible for leading and executing the finance functions of the organization in conjunction with The Centers Executive Director and senior leadership team, and The Boards Executive, Finance, and Audit committees.The CFO provides thought leadership and strategic vision for the financial future of The Center by driving short- and long-term financial planning and strategy, investment strategy, and delivering on long-term financial goals. The CFO, in close collaboration with the executive team, manages the fiscal well-being of the organization by embedding an equity lens and challenging the status quo within financial structures to further the organizations mission to advance racial and gender equity.Areas of Leadership:Executive & Team Leadership: Partner and collaborate with all members of the senior leadership team to inform strategic, financially-sound, resource-savvy decision making. Manage the finance team, including the Senior Director of Contracts & Finance Administration and the Director of Accounting, to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate the agencys fiscal function and performance. Continue to develop the finance team, growing their skills and building team cohesion and integration with the rest of the organization. Communicate changes to systems, processes, and policies and translate complex financial information and concepts to a variety of audiences, so they may grasp the entire financial picture.• Key Qualifications: Experience as a C-level executive, including setting and driving strategy at the organizational level, alongside other senior leaders. Proven history of leading, inspiring, and developing cohesive and high functioning teams with diverse identities to effectively deliver outcomes while centering an organizations mission. Track record of effective collaboration with other executive leaders to support organization-wide policy planning and communication. Ability to manage up, down, and across an organization effectively, with and without formal authority. History of productive partnerships with boards. High sense of responsibility and commitment to the mission of the LGBT Community Center.Financial Operations & Planning: Set the vision and the strategy for finance at the Center, including leading accounting and finance compliance operations, short- and long-term forecasting, and financial planning and investment strategies, in alignment with the upcoming strategic plan. Move the Centers decision-making orientation away from a scarcity mindset, toward a more strategic and deliberate use of resources to advance the Centers mission and goals. Be a representative voice and expert for the finance department - and all financial activities - at The Center, communicating financial updates thoroughly and in a way that all audiences regardless of their financial expertise, can understand. Assess and evaluate The Centers financial systems and tools, with an eye toward process improvement, adapting them to meet the evolving needs of The Center. Lead the development and maintenance of effective financial/accounting policies, processes, and internal controls. Manage cash flow and forecasting. Ensure all annual, quarterly, and periodic national, state, and local filings are completed.• Key Qualifications: Experience leading finance strategy and financial operations in a nonprofit setting, including finance, accounting, budgeting & forecasting, control, and reporting functions, along with the ability to translate a strategic plan into financial models. Proven ability to communicate complex financial concepts to diverse audiences, and a track record of training department leaders to empower sound financial decision making.Collaboration & Relationship Building: Partner with leaders of all functions at The Center, board members, and other members of staff to grow their command of finance and confidence in making financial decisions. Lead financial collaboration and alignment among staff, leadership, board committees, and the full board.• Key Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to cultivate, grow, and manage positive, authentic, mutually beneficial relationships at all levels of an organization, across lines of difference. Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to identify and work through challenges, underscored by strong judgment and emotional intelligence. Proven collaborator, able to work with and through senior leadership teams, as well as across functions.Equity & Inclusion: Provide leadership, vision, and coordination to champion equity within the Finance teams day-to-day management, the organization processes, and control systems, and the organization's financial planning and investment.
