Our Opportunity:Chewy is seeking an Automated Maintenance Technician III to join the pack at the Jessup, PA Fulfillment Center! This position involves handling a broad range of responsibilities, including facilities maintenance, equipment upkeep, and utilities management, to ensure detailed operations.What you'll do:In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing automated material handling equipment to ensure efficient performance and high equipment availability. Applying preventive and Reliability Centered Maintenance processes, you will troubleshoot and promptly resolve equipment breakdowns to maintain smooth operations. You will work closely with other technicians and leaders to optimize equipment performance within time constraints. Additionally, you will partner with Control Systems Engineers and peers to conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures, supplying to the overall success of the facility's operations.Successful candidates will:• Maintain and repair both electrical and mechanical components of equipment, including conveyor systems, sortation systems, carton erectors, print-and-apply systems, compactors/balers, motors, and more.• Adjust scanners, cameras, scales, and printer applicators (PANDA)• Reset, repair, or replace adjustable components (belts, chains, cables) and wearing components (guides, bearings, wheels, rollers, pulleys)• Clean, lubricate, and calibrate equipment• Use appropriate job plans, procedures, and manuals• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to basic electronics and Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) systems.• Use handheld devices or desktop PC to build and close Work Orders with appropriate data (labor hours, downtime, problem/cause/remedy, and parts used)• Develop and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organization• Follow appropriate safety procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment (Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc.), and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazardsWhat you’ll need:Physical Demands (with or without reasonable accommodation):• Bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head• Walking within and around the site with excellent frequency (Up and down flights of stairs).• Climb ladders safely and without limitation, and work off platforms and equipment at significant heights• Full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists, eye/hand coordination, feet (foot pedals), manual (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation)• Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and or uneven surfaces• Ability to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hoursQualifications:• PC proficiency and ability to use handheld devices• Familiar with wiring diagrams, symbols, and electrical measuring• Work order management• Preventive/predictive maintenance procedures• Basic blueprint and schematic reading, metal fabrication and welding, understanding of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programs• Ability to resolve basic Input/Output functions• High school diploma or equivalent experience requiredDesired Qualifications:• College degree or experience from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field, or 3-5 years hands on previous experience in related field.• Experience with automated conveyor systems and controlsWe offer the following benefits for our employees:• 20% Chewy.com DiscountChewy is an equal opportunity employer.
