Product Manager: Digital Training Product (Remote)
About Viamo
Mobile technology is revolutionizing how organizations engage with their end users. More than 96% of the world’s population has access to a mobile phone, meaning it is now possible to reach nearly every single person on the planet. Yet 3 billion people living in emerging markets still lack access to relevant, timely, and engaging information in their local languages, and their voices remain underheard. The organizations that serve them lack the technology and capacity to reach them, and many are unaware of the power of mobile technology to meet their organizational goals.
Viamo connects individuals and organizations using digital technology to make better decisions.
Having reached more than 21 million people in 2022 and more than 4 million monthly active users, we have our eyes on our goal of reaching 100 million monthly active users by 2026.
We provide organizations with the digital solutions and expertise to meaningfully engage their target audiences on the mobile devices they already have. We do this by disseminating actionable benefits in the form of digital campaigns, digital training, and the Viamo platform - a toll-free gateway to the world with no internet connection required. We also use digital surveys to gather feedback and collect lean data to hear from the people you serve and to support operational decision-making.
About the role
Building on our success training essential workers in emerging markets (community health workers, nurses, doctors, teachers, polling officers, agricultural extension agents, etc.), Viamo is seeking an experienced Product Manager for our Digital Training product.
As just one example, Viamo’s Digital Training product created value by allowing our clients to share knowledge with and upskill their field staff through the mobile phone they have in their pocket - whether or not it’s a smartphone. Despite being one of Viamo’s newest products launched in late 2019, our Digital Training product has been used in 12+ countries to train well over 100,000 field workers. The potential for this product has been strongly validated in the past 18 months, but there is still a lot to explore, understand, scope, and deliver in this Sector i.e. what if field workers could receive their daily tasks, get trained, receive certification, carry out their activities, submit their reports, and get paid all through their simple (non-smart) mobile phones?
The Successful Product Manager's mandate is to maximize the impact for our Partners and end Users and to mature this product into a dominant market position by creating a long-term vision for this product, improving its functionality and usability, building a strong brand, upgrading its implementation process, forging strategic partnerships with complementary organizations, refining Pricing and sales strategies, working closely with Viamo’s implementation and Sales departments and just generally ensuring the overall all success of this Product.
The Product Manager of the Digital Training Product will join a team of Product Managers at Viamo. This team works hard to create and deliver the strategic direction to all our offerings and to increase the impact and value created for our partners and end Users. At Viamo, the Product Managers are responsible for the creation and implementation of the product strategy. They work in collaboration with our engineering and design teams as a “trifecta” in order to refine and then deliver on the strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Some of the key activities of the Product Manager include:
Empathize with Viamo’s partners (our clients) to understand their priorities and how mobile engagement can increase the productivity of their staff. Build a product crew at Viamo comprising representatives across different teams.
Empathize with Viamo’s end users to understand how we can increase their engagement with Viamo’s mobile solutions.
From these insights, and in collaboration with an internal product team, create a strategy and plan for our Digital Training product that includes:
A Vision and Mission
A Product Business plan
A technical roadmap with feature prioritization
An impact measurement plan and associated dashboards (internal and external)
Track and report on important Business and Product Metrics/KPIs
A Launch plan for the successive launches of new features
Ensure the overall success of the Product
Work closely with all relevant Viamo departments (engineering, design, implementation, marketing, programs, partnerships, and finance) to facilitate the execution of these plans.
Strengthen the product’s value proposition through negotiations with potential external strategic partners.
Interpret the usage data, as well as client and user feedback, to refine the product strategy and plans.
