<div><p>Training is a very busy and challenging yet rewarding role like no other position in Surrey Police. You will be well supported to not only develop new officers but also yourself. A Police Staff Trainer plays a central role in ensuring that police employees, both officers and police staff are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and professional standards required to perform their duties effectively. Police staff trainers contribute to the organisation's effectiveness by designing, delivering, and evaluating training that supports operational readiness, legal compliance, community engagement, and organisational improvement. Their responsibilities extend beyond simply teaching; they function as mentors, subject-matter experts, evaluators, and strategic contributors to the policing environment. Key Responsibilities Research, develop, deliver, and maintain initial and refresher training programmes for Police officers, PCSO's and other specific courses. Supervise, support, and develop learners in classroom settings, virtual environments, and operational situations. Ensure a safe training environment by completing and regularly reviewing risk assessments for all activities. Manage learning and assessment processes to support learner progress, working with the University where appropriate and other stakeholders to help students meet academic requirements Conduct tutorials to review individual progress, provide guidance, and promote continuous learning and development. Complete all required administrative and clerical tasks associated within training delivery. Prepare and deliver interview training, including PIP 1. Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, procedures, and best practices. Provide support to the wider Learning and Development team as needed.<br><br>Clear verbal communication. Strong listening skills and the ability to build rapport with learners. Ability to give constructive feedback and support learners in a professional manner. Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to facilitate workshops for individuals & teams. The ability to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the concept of diversity, with the ability to embed this knowledge throughout all learning and development programmes. Well-developed written communication skills and the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate records and reports. Highly motivated with the ability to work on own initiative under minimal supervision, being flexible with our partners who are linked to the learners progress. Eg Universities. Fully conversant with Microsoft Office products, with accurate keyboard skills. It would be desirable if you had a recognised training qualification in Learning and Development as directed by the Head of Learning and Professional Development, ( Level 4 CET ) or equivalent, or are committed to study for qualifications.<br><br>The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.Chief Constables' Message We really welcome your interest in joining our Police Force.
