The role will be covering London and the South East, requiring regular travel between sites. The successful candidate should be a confident user of public transport and road networks. The nutritionist will engage with key stakeholders and will translate complex nutrition information into simple messages relating to food and health. They should be an expert in nutrition with an interest in food allergies, intolerances, and knowledge of legislation around food and nutrition including the Food Information Regulations and School Food Standards.<br /><br />The Nutritionist will have responsibility for the management of medical diet provision which includes:<br /><ul><li>Writing medical diet menus for different allergies, intolerances, and medical conditions</li><li>Regular communication with parents, schools, catering teams and medical professionals</li><li>Auditing sites </li><li>Training catering teams</li><li>Reporting any incidents & working with HSE to investigate</li></ul><br /><strong>Key Responsibilities </strong><br /><ul><li>Attending sites on a weekly basis </li><li>Delivering nutrition education sessions to a wide variety of audiences </li><li>Supporting our extensive medical diet procedure throughout the business by: </li><li>Creating a wide range of medical diet menus for our pupils with food allergies and intolerances.</li><li>Ensuing FIR regulations are met by providing up to date allergy information in the form of allergy reports. </li><li>Managing day to day parent, pupil and client queries surrounding medical diets. </li><li>Manage sensitive pupil allergy information in an organised and auditable manner o Regularly attending parent and client meetings regarding medical diet provision. </li><li>Maintaining medical diet information throughout our in-house menu management systems. </li><li>Contributing to ingredient, recipe, and menu development. </li><li>Deliver medical diet training throughout the business. </li><li>Review policies and procedures on medical diets.</li><li>Working closely with catering managers and area managers to promote a joined-up approach to safely providing medical diet meals. </li><li>Delivering food and wellbeing education sessions to a wide variety of audiences in person and through posters, blogs and website posts </li><li>Co-write school strategy plans for allergens, education, and sustainability with guidance from central teams alongside nutritionist </li><li>Provide expert knowledge of legislation around food and nutrition </li><li>Working closely with in-contract team to provide information required and working in collaboration to meet KPIs of contract</li><li>Being a key representative of the company to client and schools.</li><li>Supporting wider business projects when required.</li></ul><br /><strong>Person Specification </strong><br /><ul><li>Must have an accredited degree (BSc) in Nutrition or other relevant degree</li><li>Excellent IT and presentation skills and ability to learn new systems quickly</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to adapt communication to a range of stakeholders including clients, parents, and pupils</li><li>Excellent organisation skills with ability to manage a busy inbox and a high volume of workload</li><li>Confident in communicating to large groups of people and controlling challenging meetings/conversations</li><li>Ability to work under pressure and met deadlines</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team</li><li>Keen passion for food and wellbeing is essential</li><li>Excellent attention to detail</li><li>Confident public speaker</li><li>Demonstrates can do attitude</li><li>Passion for keeping up to date with latest nutrition research and legislation</li><li>Must be willing to travel and stay away from home occasionally </li><li>Ability to travel across South East either via car or public transport</li></ul><br /><br /><strong>Desirable</strong><br /><ul><li>1-2 Years work experience in the foodservice and nutrition industry would be welcomed.</li><li>Experience using nutritional analysis system such as Saffron (or equivalent).</li><li>Experience delivering educational sessions to young people (Food Technology and/or Nutrition)</li><li>Must be willing to travel and stay away from home</li><li>Ability to quickly gain credibility with key stakeholder groups</li><li>Professional, organised, presentable, efficient and self-motivated.</li><li>Ability to manage a busy diary independently</li></ul><br /><br /><strong>Key Contacts and Working Relationships </strong><br /><ul><li>Medical Diet Nutritionist South</li><li>Senior Medical Diet Nutritionist</li><li>Head of Nutrition- Technical & Compliance</li><li>Head of Nutrition & Sustainability </li><li>School catering teams </li><li>Area and regional managers </li><li>Sector Food & Nutrition Team</li></ul><br /><strong>About Us</strong><br /><br />Part of Compass Group UK&I, Chartwells is the leading provider of catering and support services to the education sector.
