About The Role:

As the Tech Lead for Growth Sports at Hawk-Eye Innovations, you will join one of the world's most innovative sports technology businesses. You will play a vital role as we embark on an ambitious growth journey with the ultimate goal of “Pioneering & Inspiring Change in Sport.” We have been innovating since 2001, challenging conventions to deliver solutions that make sport fairer, safer, more engaging and better informed.

Reporting to our Tech Manager, your wide-ranging role will see you collaborating in order to create strategic growth of current and future growth sports for Hawk-Eye, examples of such sports are Motor Racing, Horse Racing, Golf, Boxing, and Swimming.

The Tech Lead is the first point of call for technical topics in Growth Sports. Overseeing our software releases and technical implementations across all projects. They also play a key role when it comes to the integration of our delivery with various other parties in the business, such as the product team, tech ops, and Dev. Aware of current and past solutions, they support on-site technical issues while also exploring future Growth Sports solutions and developments wherever there are opportunities. The role requires an individual with strong organisational skills and a learning mindset, eager to advance their understanding of current and prospective solutions in and beyond the department.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Tech:

  • Manage assigned technical processes within Growth Sports, ensuring continuous growth and implementation of the technology and fit-for-purpose systems.

  • Maintain and develop assigned sections of technical training and standards across the department, incorporating regular training and skills development sessions

  • Work as a proactive member in the technical team, progressing on projects and assignments independently and raising feedback proactively, ensuring a positive culture and working practices

  • Collaborate with Product & TechOps functions to introduce new technologies and develop our existing systems in alignment with identified roadmaps

  • Work with Project Leads and Project Managers to build and innovate systems, and collaborate with clients

  • Work with Operations Leads and Operations Manager to ensure technical delivery and optimise existing deliveries

  • Lead by example, setting high standards, and fostering enthusiasm across all technical areas

  • Drive knowledge sharing across Growth Sports/Operations

  • Ensure adherence to technical standards, protocols, and best practices across the department (including business IT policies and standards)

Training:

  • Provide technical-related training to the department where required

  • Participate in Black Box/learning calls to address technical issues

  • Support the department's training content

  • Define, communicate, and monitor standards for on-site troubleshooting & remote support

  • Proactively seek out opportunities to improve personal technical knowledge through conversations with dev/product

Growth Sports Department Support:

  • Continued on-site delivery at a high standard where required

  • Oversight and optimisation of on-site tech processes

  • Remote support where required

What We Would Like From You:
  • Strong depth of technical knowledge, preferably including camera replay & camera-based tracking systems.

  • Keen interest in improving their understanding of all things technical

  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various parts of the business, as well as external stakeholders

  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation and delegation skills

  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to working, use of initiative, and willingness to take ownership of tasks/projects

  • Excellent problem-solving, prioritisation and analytical skills

  • Proactively identify prospective software/implementation improvements and test possible solutions

  • Strong drive to seek out opportunities to improve understanding of Growth Sports technology, as well as company-wide products and services

  • Ability to oversee various responsibilities at the same time and ensure standards are maintained

  • Capable of working to tight deadlines for service delivery

  • High degree of autonomy in setting out personal and technical-related departmental objectives

  • Confident to helm conversations with the Hawk-Eye Product and Tech Ops teams to advance the Growth Sports products

  • Set the standard for the wider team on technical-related tasks and general conduct
