Key Responsibilities

  • Transcribe dictated medical reports, summaries, office notes, and other medical documents from physicians and other healthcare professionals accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and security of all patient information and medical records.
  • Verify the accuracy of patient demographics, medical terminology, and grammar.
  • Identify and clarify inconsistencies, errors, or missing information with healthcare providers as needed.
  • Adhere strictly to all medical, legal, and ethical requirements, including HIPAA and company policies regarding patient privacy.
  • Utilize transcription equipment, software, and reference materials effectively.
  • Maintain high levels of productivity and meet established turnaround times for transcription.
  • Proofread and edit transcribed documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and clarity.
  • Continuously update knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, disease processes, and diagnostic procedures.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in medical transcription or a related field (e.g., medical assistant, medical administrative assistant), demonstrating strong practical skills.
  • Exceptional listening skills and a keen ear for accents and variations in dictation.
  • Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and disease processes.
  • Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
