Working Hours: working a 4 days on, 4 days off shift pattern doing 11 hours per shift. Shifts are 03:00-14:30 and then 14:00 - 01:00

Salary: Starting Salary is £25,583 (Level one) rising to £26,403 per annum (pro rata for part-time)

About the Role

Are you someone who takes pride in your community and enjoys working outdoors?

We're looking for motivated and reliable Environmental Services Operatives to help us keep Nottingham one of the cleanest, greenest, and most welcoming cities in the UK.

You'll play a key part in maintaining the city's streets, parks, and public spaces - supporting everything from refuse and recycling to grounds maintenance and environmental cleansing. Every day you'll see the difference your work makes to the people who live, work, and visit Nottingham.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Carry out street cleaning, waste and recycling collection, and general environmental maintenance.
  • Maintain green spaces, including grass cutting, planting, and border care.
  • Safely operate and maintain vehicles (up to 7.5 tonnes), tools, and machinery.
  • Support winter operations, including snow clearance and gritting.
  • Work flexibly across frontline neighbourhood services depending on service needs.
  • Represent Nottingham City Council with pride, professionalism, and respect for our residents and environment.

What We're Looking For

  • A team player who enjoys practical, outdoor work and takes pride in doing a great job.
  • Experience using hand tools, light power tools, or vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes (desirable).
  • A sound understanding of health and safety, and willingness to follow best practice.
  • A full, valid driving licence.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • Commitment to excellent customer care and equality of service for all.
