Our team is dedicated to delivering a meticulous, high-quality proofreading service for question paper materials, ensuring they meet the highest standard—100% error-free.<br><br>We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.<br><br><strong>About The Role<br><br></strong>In this role, you will proofread question paper materials across all subjects and qualification levels, ensuring they are error-free and adhere to the agreed style.<br><br>This position combines hands-on proofreading with leadership responsibilities, including managing and developing a team of six proofreaders.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities:<br><br></strong><ul><li>Proofread question paper materials to ensure accuracy in grammar, spelling, typography, layout, and formatting.</li><li>Contribute to the ongoing improvement of team processes and procedures.</li><li>Lead and manage a team of six proofreaders, including workload allocation, performance monitoring, and professional development.</li><li>Respond to style-related queries from team members.<br><br></li></ul>Please note that this is not an editorial proofreading position. As the work requires close collaboration and access to secure materials, the role is fully on-site—hybrid working is not available. Your presence at our Whittlesford office will be essential.<br><br><strong>About You<br><br></strong>We are looking for a highly accurate and experienced proofreader who is methodical, meticulous, and committed to continual improvement.<br><br><strong>You will have:<br><br></strong><ul><li>Proven experience in proofreading, ideally within an educational or technical setting, supported by formal training or on-the-job development.</li><li>Strong command of English grammar and plain English, with the ability to apply complex style guides and detailed checklists accurately.</li><li>Excellent attention to detail and consistency, even when working with repetitive formats, alongside good IT skills (including Adobe Acrobat mark-up tools).</li><li>Clear and confident communication skills, plus a flexible, collaborative approach to working in a team.</li><li>Previous line management experience (or the ability and enthusiasm to lead and develop a team) is highly desirable.<br><br></li></ul><strong>In your application, please include:<br><br></strong><ul><li>Details of your proofreading training (including CIEP membership if applicable).</li><li>The types of complex documents you have proofread, especially any exam board materials.</li><li>Your experience with style guides and checklists.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Rewards And Benefits<br><br></strong>We will support you to be at your best in work and to live well outside of it.
