Why join our Transport Planning team?

The Transport Planning team, which embraces strategic transport planning, highways design and highways development control, plays a vital role in supporting the Councils regeneration ambitions. As such:

  • You will play a significant role in the delivery of the Council’s ambitious Growth and Strategic Investment Programme and transformation of the borough’s transportation infrastructure in line with our emerging Low Carbon Transport Strategy.
  • You will play a vital role in supporting the Council’s regeneration and Net Zero ambitions.
  • You will work on transformation projects being developed for the town centres in Sefton over a long-term programme of activity, giving you the opportunity to be involved from project beginning to end.
  • Your role includes involvement in exciting and rewarding projects aimed at supporting active travel, improving highway safety and public realm and implementing new electric vehicle infrastructure.
  • You will collaborate with colleagues in other teams across the Council, including Regeneration, Housing and Planning, as well as collaborating with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and other local, regional and national partners.

Your role

Sefton Council is seeking a committed, enthusiastic and experienced Principal Transport Planner, with significant experience in project management, for the development and delivery of transport projects to help shape and deliver our programmes.

Your role will involve the project management of a range of transport projects/business cases from inception to delivery, a contribution to the development of transport policies and strategies and a key role in the management and delivery of the Council’s Transport Capital Programme.

In line with Sefton’s Workforce Vision, you will benefit from being able to work flexibly, both in terms of flexible working hours and through our hybrid working arrangements.
