Job Description This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in a quickly growing gallery, even if you don\'t have experience in the arts. The successful applicant will be flexible - weekend and evening availability are a regular requirement. The successful candidate will have excellent customer service experience and confidence working independently. Starting as an assistant role, this job is designed to grow as we do and therefore we are looking for ambitious individuals to join the team who will enjoy building lasting relationships that benefit the gallery. HOURS: 8-10 days a month. Flexibility is essential as weekend and occasional evening work will be required. Our standard working day is 9am - 5.30pm in the week and 9.45-5.15 at the weekend with a 30 min unpaid lunch break. PLACES OF WORK: EDiT. 2 Greenwich Market, London, SE10 and The Viewing Room, SE8. PAY: £14 per hour plus commission. Job Requirements The following qualities are a must: Knowledge and interest in art - particularly urban contemporary. Organised and a competent administrator. Confident using power tools. Valid drivers license. Strong attention to detail - both in the physical space and within your desk work. Flexibility regarding hours, particularly during exhibition changes and events (you will be informed ahead of time). Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Great communication skills and a professional, courteous demeanour. Job Responsibilities Your role as Gallery Assistant will be a mixture of day to day gallery operations and art fairs and exhibitions, alongside the related admin. Specific roles include but are not limited to: Shipping online orders and delivering framed works. Framing admin and communicating with the workshop. Installation of artworks in customers homes. Assisting with a monthly installation and deinstallation of artworks in the gallery and as part of our regular exhibition programme. Transport artworks between the gallery and off-site storage facilities. Set up and maintain the gallery space for exhibitions and events. Collaborate with the rest of the gallery team to ensure a seamless experience for clients, artists and visitors. Assist with general gallery operations, including inventory management and equipment upkeep.
