<strong>Overview<br><br></strong>This is an exciting time to join Buckinghamshire Archives, as we prepare for our move from Aylesbury to High Wycombe.<br><br>We are looking for an Archive Assistant to work four days a week (which days can be discussed), on a <strong>six-month contract</strong>, to help make our collections more accessible to the public.<br><br>If you love history, then this could be a great job for you! The post holder will also help deliver our customer-facing service and there will be occasional Saturday work.<br><br>The salary shown is the grade for the role and will be pro rata.<br><br><strong>About Us<br><br></strong>Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. Our collections include the internationally important Paralympic sports archives, and we also cover Milton Keynes.<br><br>Buckinghamshire Archives, with its foundation of excellent standards for customer care and collections management, focuses on the four E's: engage, excite, educate and empower.<br><br><strong>About The Role<br><br></strong>This post supports the Archive Officer in ensuring the county’s archival collections are made accessible to the public through the efficient processing of new deposits and gifts.<br><br>Fixed<br><br>As a ‘fixed’ worker, you’ll spend most of your time in the same location, which will likely be a fixed office or location where your role is performed. Typically, you’ll be based in the same location as the rest of your team, because you provide a particular service from that fixed location or need access to information there.<br><br><strong>About You<br><br></strong>You will ideally have:<br><br><ul><li>The ability to carry and handle original archives that may be fragile, heavy, or cumbersome is essential.</li><li>proven experience of working successfully in a team.</li><li>The ability to organise your own workload effectively, prioritising tasks and working to defined deadlines.<br><br><br></li></ul>Other information<br><br>If you think this role could be for you, please read the job summary for more information.
